- Is my ID stored by Sporo?
- No. Identity verification is handled entirely by Stripe Identity — the same technology used by banks and financial institutions. We never see or store your ID documents. Stripe verifies your identity and simply tells us you're genuine.
- How much does it cost?
- Browsing is completely free — you can see all verified members before spending a penny. Full membership, including messaging, costs £19.99/year — less than £2/month.
- How do I cancel?
- Simply go to Settings and cancel with one tap. No emails, no phone calls, no hoops. Your membership stays active until the end of your billing period.
- Why do I need to get verified to message?
- Verification is what makes Sporo different. It removes fake accounts, bots and time-wasters — so everyone you interact with is a real, genuine person. It protects you as much as it protects everyone else.
- Is it safe to meet people?
- Every messaging member has been verified with a government-issued photo ID. All contact happens through Sporo's in-app messaging — we never share your personal details. You can block or report any member at any time. Always meet in a public place for your first meetup.
- What sports are covered?
- Tennis, Padel, Golf, Running, Cycling, Walking, Swimming, Badminton, Squash, Yoga, CrossFit and more. If your sport isn't listed, add it to your profile and we'll consider adding it officially.
- Is Sporo available outside the UK?
- Sporo is currently focused on the UK. We plan to expand internationally based on demand.
- What if I get harassed or encounter a fake account?
- Use the Report button on any member's profile. Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes swift action including permanent bans. You can also block any member instantly from their profile.
- Can sports clubs and coaches join?
- Absolutely — business accounts are welcome. Clubs, independent coaches and gyms can create a business profile, post activities and connect with verified local members.
- Why can't I message for free?
- The verification process has a cost, and keeping the platform free of bots and fake accounts requires ongoing moderation. The £19.99/year fee is what funds a genuinely safe, verified community — and we think that's worth it.
